Hi there! Wow, it's been a while has it not?
So guess what? I was invited to a wedding in Pennsylvania. Not to photograph, but as a guest. I had almost forgotten what it was like to sit peacefully & enjoy a wedding. Being the resourceful kind of person & never having visited the East coast for more than a hour layover, I decided to make it into a short but much needed getaway trip. I requested a few days off from work & told my sister to pack her bags.
At first, we planned to do the touristy thing but it did not suit us. Instead, we rented a car & did the Air B&B thing. We saw what we wanted to see, went where we wanted to go when we wanted & were not ashamed to admit to each other that we wouldn’t mind grabbing some Chipotle & turning in around 6 p.m.
First stop was Philadelphia, PA. We landed at dawn hit the ground running, checking off our pre-planned list of things to do with the help of the Maps app. We had only one day to explore but boy did we make it count! Despite the weather being the most humid 100 degrees I've ever been in, the results were Independence Hall, Mütter Museum & the Eastern State Penitentiary, not to mention all the old streets, memorials & parks we walked by & the sweet places we ate at. I was a bit melancholic when the city became just a skyline in my rear-view mirror as we drove away to our next destination. Within less than 24 hours, Philadelphia had seduced me with its history, non-Californian quirks & beautiful architecture. But we must keep moving. Next stop: Washington D.C.
