I've been reading David Rubel's The Bedside Baccalaureate before bed for a few weeks. His course on the Hudson River School really piqued my interest. So when I found out that the Albany Institute of History & Art was exhibiting over 50 works of art from the movement, my brain sent me thrill & started conspiring against my better sense.
After much thought & internal back-and-forth, I decided to drive to Albany, NY. Approximately 7 hours on the road not counting stops. It was a 3-day weekend & I refused to spend it in my cozy alcove.
Apparently moving cross county & living by myself is not thrilling enough. Apparently, the large exhibition of the Hudson River School at the Albany Institute of History & Art is worth driving 460 miles for. I never felt so at free, so happy, so content, so mysterious. Don't misunderstand me though. I am not so naive to not be aware of things that may happen to a female in a situation where I put myself. Nevertheless, for the sake of beholding beauty, I pushed the limit. I was not completely reckless, just a little.
Well anyhow, here are a couple shots of my wanderings. I visited the NYSM & the aforementioned Albany Institute of History & Art. I also walked around the nearby government buildings & parks. It was a white, icy day when most people had good sense to stay indoors. Beautiful isn't?
