Greetings & salutations!
Unwillingly, I woke up around 6:30 a.m. before the sun. I groggily climbed out of bed to turn on the heater & lazily looked outside my window. I couldn't believe my eyes:
They beheld a white Shabbat. It was Saturday morning & Jerusalem was crystallized in the most delicate, powdery snow. Every roof, every branch & twig was dusted with snow.
There as an eager knock on my door. I was being invited upstairs for coffee before it was time to go to synagogue. I dressed hastily, grabbed my camera & bounded up the stone, spiral staircase.
I was just on time to record the gorgeous sunrise I have seen yet. The white city was a huge contrast against the red, warm tones of the rising sun. After the initial shock & thrill, we sat together at the table, sipping hot Swedish coffee & taking in the gorgeous scene.
The snow fall began on the afternoon of the previous day & continued through the night. That afternoon was spent mainly gazing out the large windows of the Center. This California chick doesn't see much snow you know.
After the others had left, I bundled up & headed out, I knew I didn't have much time. The sun was shining brightly, melting the snow with hardly any effort. I walked up & down the quiet streets, dodging tree boughs laden with falling snow that seemed to be aimed towards my head & the back of my neck.
It was so wonderful. I am so blessed.
